Reformer Pilates Classes

Reformer Pilates is performed on a specialised piece of equipment designed by Pilates founder Joseph Pilates. The reformer machine features a moveable carriage, adjustable springs, straps and a foot bar, allowing a wide variety of Pilates exercises to be performed with added resistance, precision and control. It’s a safe and effective form of low impact exercise that combines controlled, flowing movements with focused breathing, all on a dynamic surface offering an elevated approach to traditional Pilates. The goal of Pilates is to improve posture, balance, strength, coordination, flexibility, mobility, breathing efficiency, and overall mind-body awareness. It can enhance sports performance, support the management of long-term health conditions and joint pain, aid in post-injury or postnatal rehabilitation, and help manage pregnancy-related musculoskeletal issues.

At DUO Pilates, classes are Physio-led and taught using the APPI method, meaning they are grounded in expert knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and injury management. Every client is screened for suitability before starting, ensuring the exercises are safe, appropriate, and personalised. Modifications are made as needed to support each person’s unique goals and physical ability. We offer a range of Reformer Pilates classes suitable for all levels and abilities, making it an ideal option for both rehabilitation and general fitness.

Beginner:

Ideal for complete newcomers to Pilates, those returning to exercise, or individuals recovering from injury, illness, or managing a long-term health condition. The class will build confidence and familiarity with foundational exercises at a slower pace to ensure precision in every movement.

Intermediate:

Best suited for individuals with some previous Pilates experience or those who already engage in regular physical activity. The class will build on foundational exercises and introduce more challenging movement patterns to elevate your practice.

Advanced:

Designed for those with solid Pilates experience or individuals who regularly participate in sports or high-level exercise. This class features high intensity, complex exercises and advanced movement patterns with faster transitions to push air practice to its fullest potential.

Mixed Ability:

Open to everyone, regardless of experience or fitness level. Beginners can start with lower level exercise options, while more experienced participants are guided toward more advanced progressions.

Older Adults:

Tailored for older adults of all fitness levels, including those managing joint or health conditions. Movements are low impact and designed to support strength, balance, and mobility.

Pregnancy:

Suitable from 12 weeks of pregnancy right up until birth. Exercises are modified to ensure comfort and safety during each stage of pregnancy.

Post Natal:

Appropriate for new mums from 6 weeks postpartum following a vaginal birth, or 12 weeks after a caesarean. Exercises focus on rebuilding core and pelvic stability in a safe, supportive way.
